Ms. Melissa

I’m a mother of two, a local artist, and someone who has spent over 15 years in early childcare. Since moving from Austin to Montrose in 2016, I’ve had the privilege of caring for families, creating murals, and weaving my life into the fabric of this beautiful community. My journey has been shaped by both incredible joy and unimaginable heartache. My partner and I have weathered life’s harshest storms, including the loss of our first son, Radley Moon. That experience changed us in ways we could never have prepared for.

In the depths of my grief, I found a path to healing through caring for others. Becoming an in-home nanny for a family in Ridgway gave me the space to reconnect with joy. Children have always been my refuge—their laughter, their growth, their wonder. It’s a gift, truly, to be trusted with the care of your little ones, and I hold those moments close to my heart.

In 2022, we welcomed our second son, Phillip Rupert, whose light fills every corner of our lives. He reminds me daily of the beauty in new beginnings and the hope that springs from the deepest of losses.

During the summer I paint local murals and spend time with my family. I love music, dancing, creating art, new experiences, and connecting with people in this place we’re lucky enough to call home. I am truly grateful for all the support this community has shown.
